Melvin Landry
Owner/Operator
Having grown up in the Berkeley and Oakland community, Melvin Landry is Bay Area native with an extensive background background in youth sports events and athletic programming. Mr. Landry is passionate about community engagement, using his own story as a way to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity as well as to empower more youth. Known for his ability to connect and lead, Mr. Landry has developed, managed, and coordinated numerous athletic programs and activities for youth and student athletes over the course of his 30 year career. He is the Founder and President of the Oakland Rebels. He has been running high-quality tournaments for 25 years. In his previous role with the City of Oakland, Mr. Landry organized special events for flag football leagues, basketball leagues and volleyball tournaments.
In addition, his accomplishments include the development and implementation of the Bay Area Charter School Athletic Conference (BACSAC) where Mr. Landry serves as the commissioner today. BACSAC was established to ensure that charter schools are afforded the opportunity to give their students the best sports program.
Mr. Landry has not only the background and perspective of a Program Director, but also has many years of experience as a referee. For 20 years, Mr. Landry has been officiating Division I college basketball. For 33 years, he's been able to make an impact on students and communities by officiating high school and youth football. In 2017, he officiated the CIF State Championship game. Today, he assigns youth football officials for NCYFC, CVYFC, Snoop, Norcal-AYF, and PPW.
